Working as an Art Director in the advertising industry for over 25 years I\u2019ve gained a great deal of experience creating concepts and art directing work through to the finished article. Be it posters, ads, leaflets, brochures or catalogues, I\u2019ve done it. Working at ad agencies in London (ABM, DDB), Manchester (Radford, Stowe\/Bowden\/Wilson, CSM, McCann, Rex Stewart), Leeds (Murray\/Malty\/Walker\/West) and in Sydney (McCann \u2013 \u2018below the line\u2019, freelance).
In addition I also work as a photographer having learnt from some of Manchester\u2019s best photographers such as Ian Woolams, David Seed, Tom Graty, Paul Fosbury, and John Cooper to name but a few. Shooting everything from The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards at Edinburgh Castle, windswept crags in the Dales (Craghoppers), Hitchcockesque shower scenes (Norweb), Heavy Metal drummers (York Races), to primary school kids in class (YPO\/Galt Education). Most of the work on this site I have both directed and shot for clients (work featuring hired photography will be credited where applicable).
Recently I have applied the skills acquired working in the ad industry to \u2018wedding photography\u2019 which lends itself well to more of a \u2018reportage\/photojournalism\u2019 feel rather than just point and click. Portraits don\u2019t have to be boring anymore, they can be dynamic.
SKILLS:Fully Mac literate in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Quark and Freehand. Familiar with Dreamweaver MX. Have experience using and publishing with WordPress and MailChimp. A comprehensive understanding of print and colour processing involving everything from large scale 48 sheet sites, 6 sheet posters, asdshells, bus sides\/rears, double page spreads, catalogues, folders, packaging, point of sale, to single page one colour flyers.Art Directing work through from initial concept to the finished product. Organising an executing photographic shoots (both as the art director and as the photographer). Hiring photographers, studios, models (children and adults), set makers, model makers, stylists. Working within budget.I have also been known to build photographic sets (see Copper Dragon bar pump) and illustrate when required.Some experience in TV advertising working for Murray, Maltby, Walker & West at Yorkshire TV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
